Answer vs Solution

Let’s talk about situations in which having the answer and having the solution are two different things. It’s important to differentiate between the two when cases like these arise. Having the answer typically means giving good advice and pointing someone in the right direction. Having the solution is something that solves the particular problem in question. Looking at both of these from the outside, it would seem that having the solution would be far more valuable to someone than having the answer, but this really isn’t the case. Quite often the person with the problem assigns the same level of value to both the answer and the solution. This is pretty interesting, but it gets better. To take this is a step further in some cases the person with the problem assigns more value to the answer than the solution. There is trust that gets built when someone has the answers.
